Access to Clean Water and Sanitation

Bena Charity Trust works to improve access to safe and reliable water by drilling new boreholes and rehabilitating broken or non-functional ones in water-stressed and underserved communities. Each borehole is designed to serve hundreds of families, significantly reducing the distances people—especially women and children—have to walk to collect water. By providing clean water close to homes, the Trust helps lower the incidence of water-borne diseases, contributing to healthier communities and improved overall well-being.

Beyond the physical provision of water,Bena Charity Trust emphasizes community ownership and sustainability. Local water committees are trained in proper maintenance, water management, and hygiene practices to ensure that each water point remains functional over the long term. The Trust also engages in awareness programs on safe water usage and sanitation, promoting responsible water practices, environmental stewardship, and resilient community health.

Through these efforts, Bena Charity Trust not only improves access to essential water services but also empowers communities to manage resources sustainably, enhancing quality of life and supporting broader social and economic development.

The Trust provides two main types of boreholes:

  1. Manual Boreholes – operated by hand pumps, providing a cost-effective and reliable water source for smaller communities.
  2. Motorized Boreholes – equipped with pumps connected to elevated storage tanks, supplying water through taps for larger communities or institutions, ensuring continuous and convenient access.
